Bertha left her mark on many hearts with her kitchen on Riverside Drive. Especially during the holiday

season, where her son continues the cookie tradition of his maternal grandmother.

Here is a recipe to warm your heart this holiday season.

The cookie dough

  • 1 Lb. butter
  • 1 Cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 4 cups of flour

Preparation

  • Mix well and form the dough into a ball
  • Roll out the dough with a rolling pin to the desired thickness (less than 1 cm recommended)
  • Take the cookie molds of your choice
  • Arrange cookies on a baking sheet
  • Bake at 350 F until lightly browned

Cookie icing

  • With a mixer, mix powdered sugar and butter in desired quantities to achieve the creamy texture you prefer
  • Put the desired amount of icing on the cookies
  • Finish each cookie with 1\4 of red cherries on top of the cream

Have fun & enjoy the cookies!
